Get Pre-approvedOne of the most important things that you can do when first starting out to buy a home is to be pre-approved before you start looking at houses. In the past few years this has become extremely important. Some sellers and most banks won't even consider your offer unless they know that you have met with a loan officer and have been pre-approved for a loan.
Getting a pre-approval is not only a good idea because most sellers require it, it is also very important for you as the buyer. The first reason is it will allow you to see exactly what you actually qualify for and what the payments would be for different purchase prices. This way you can determine what price range you should start looking in. The second reason is, let's say you start looking at houses first, your family finds "the perfect house" only to later find out that you don't qualify to buy it. By being pre-approved first you can avoid this heartache. You will only be looking at homes you can afford, saving you time and money.
Getting Pre-approved is fairly simple. All you need to do is gather a few documents and either call us to set an appointment, fax them to us, or e-mail them to us. In some cases we can actually pre-approve you over the phone as well.
I have been a loan officer for more than 10 years. I work for a Direct Lender, so you can be assured that you will be getting the best rates and lowest costs available. Below is a list of items needed to pre-approve you. Feel free to call me, e-mail me, or fax me your documents for a 5 minute approval.
